Road Trip

August 18, 2013

Second day of our road trip we started out by driving through Nashville, TN.  Joe was inspired when we saw the Country Music Hall of Fame.

We had to touch the arch

We walked around the grounds and visited the underground museum which sits underneath the arch.  We didn't have to much time to visit, but it was a good break and fun to see.

And again later that day...

We saw a sign and decided to take a stop to see Mark Twain's boyhood home

The town was more a ghost town, but it was interesting and neat to see how close Mr. Twain grew up to the Mississippi River.  The river was only about 1 block away from his home.

A tiring and good day.  Day 3 to post next.

First Haircut

Andrew's first haircut

This is what his hair looked liked before, thought it was time for a trim. 

Those poor gums- looks like tooth #9 is trying to push through now.

Andrew has now come to the stage where he is boycotting a lot of his toys and simple paper does the trick.

Poor baby has a rash.  The doc said he is just overly sensitive to something around him and says it isn't contagious.  Oh little Andrew man :(

Andrew is still a little snuggler.  When I give him his bottle he still wants to be snuggled in and I am not complaining :)

Raleigh, NC LDS Temple 

July 2013

Joe and I were able to attend the temple for the first time since Andrew's birth.  Our friends Lance and Robin came over and watched the monitor for us while Andrew slept- thanks!  The temple was beautiful and very similar to MN's temple.  The flowers were gorgeous as always, and it was so nice to attend.

Joe has recently found out that the Vance roots are Southern roots.  He insists I call him Nash- that hasn't caught on yet :)  Anyway, apparently Zebulon Baird Vance is a possible ancestor.  Zebulon Vance was Governor of North Carolina, served as a lieutenant in the Confederate Army, was a practicing lawyer, a Senator and was known as an individual who strove to protect and serve his fellow North Carolinians.

On a rainy Saturday we made our way to Raleigh and went through this free Watergate exhibit.  We both learned so much about the scandal and Reagan's presidency- it was awesome.
